St. Sava Celebration Shines Bright at our Cathedral

Chicago, January 27, 2024 – In a spectacular display of talent, community spirit, and cultural celebration, the St. Sava Celebration took center stage at our Cathedral on Saturday, January 27th.

It was warming to see our Cathedral filled with children and their families to celebrate Divine Liturgy and the Blessing of the Slava kolac. The event brought together the children within our Cathedral community, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and artistic prowess of our talented youth. V. Rev. Stavrophor Dobrivoje Milunovic, on behalf of the Cathedral clergy, delivered a warm and heartfelt greeting to mark the occasion. His words resonated with the spirit of unity and celebration, setting the tone for an event that would be remembered for years to come.

Our Cathedral Education Board, under the lead of Protinica Jelena Milunovic, deserves a heartfelt thank you for their dedication and commitment to making this celebration a resounding success and for leaving a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. The Mistress of Ceremonies for the program, Dr. Stanislava Milosevic, skillfully guided the audience through the various performances.

The program featured outstanding performances from our Church School, Serbian Language School, Jr. Brankies Children’s Choir, SOKO Folklore Groups, and Youth Group. The talented children took the stage with enthusiasm, delivering a mesmerizing display of music, dance, and cultural expressions in honor of St. Sava, the First Archbishop and Enlightener of Serbia.

The entire community gathered to witness the magnificent program, expressing their pride and admiration for the young participants. The applause echoed through the Cathedral hall, resonating with appreciation for the dedication and hard work put in by the children and their mentors.

In a heartfelt message, the community extends its gratitude to all the parents, teachers, and volunteers who played a crucial role in making this day truly special for our children. Their support and tireless efforts behind the scenes did not go unnoticed, and the success of the St. Sava Celebration is a testament to the collaborative spirit of our community.

As we reflect on this joyous occasion, the community sends a resounding “Bravo!” to the young performers and expresses gratitude for a memorable celebration that not only honored St. Sava but also strengthened the bonds within our community. May God continue to bless our talented children, and may such celebrations be a source of inspiration for generations to come.
