His Eminence Metropolitan Longin and the St. Sava Monastery community invite the faithful to a historic gathering for our spiritual and cultural heritage.
A Century of Sacrifice
The St. Sava Monastery in Libertyville stands as a sacred testament to the resilience of the Serbian people. Founded by St. Mardarije, who famously labored alongside workers to lay the monastery’s very first bricks, this site has been the spiritual anchor for our people in North America for over one hundred years.
Today we are called to honor that legacy. The construction of the St. Mardarije Cultural Center is the next chapter in this history, providing a modern home for our youth, our traditions, and our faith.
The Schedule of Events
We invite the community to join us for a day of prayer, fellowship, and vision:
10:30 AM | Holy Hierarchical Liturgy His Eminence Metropolitan Longin will preside over the service, concelebrated by His Grace Bishop Serafim and the Cathedral Clergy.
12:30 PM | Benefit Luncheon and Project Presentation A community meal will be served in the Cathedral Hall immediately following the Liturgy. During the luncheon, His Grace Bishop Serafim will deliver a keynote presentation on the vision and progress of the St. Mardarije Cultural Center. We will also welcome a delegation from the motherland, including President Milorad Dodik, who joins us to witness the progress of this significant project for the global Serbian diaspora.
Building Our Future Together
The St. Mardarije Cultural Center is more than a building; it is a promise to the next generation. Our goal is to raise $50,000 during this event to ensure the center can begin its mission of serving our families and preserving our identity. Every contribution is a direct investment in the completion of this spiritual home.
