Recently, the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago, Illinois, marked a significant milestone in its community service initiatives with the creation of the Dusanka Kuljanin Endowment Fund. Dusanka (Zelenovic) Kuljanin 1948 – 2024
Dušanka Kuljanin, née Zelenović, was born on May 23, 1948, in Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Raised with her parents, sister, and brother in Sarajevo and later in Konjic, she completed her education and worked there for over 20 years. Dušanka’s life centered around her family, whom she loved and supported tirelessly. Her dedication to her family extended to her children and grandchildren, who cherished her unconditionally.
In 1992, Dušanka and her family relocated to Chicago amidst the turmoil of civil war. Despite the challenges, she rebuilt her life with determination, ensuring her family’s well-being through hard work. Known for her boundless generosity, Dušanka immediately engaged in humanitarian efforts to aid Serbian families affected by the war. She played a pivotal role in collecting donations and organizing aid shipments to refugee camps in Serbia. At the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, she joined the humanitarian committee, continuing her mission to support families and children in Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.
Dušanka’s deep love for Serbia and its people remained steadfast throughout her life in Chicago. She celebrated every achievement and progress of the Serbian community worldwide. In honor of her legacy of compassion and service, her family established the Dusanka Kuljanin Endowment Fund to continue her humanitarian work, focusing on aiding those most in need in Serbia.
