On January 25th, families and children of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral gathered in celebration of St. Sava, the patron saint of education, unity, and the Serbian Orthodox Church.
The evening commenced with a solemn Akathist to St. Sava, followed by the traditional Blessing of the Slava Kolac and Zito, a cherished tradition symbolizing faith, unity, and gratitude.
This year, we were honored to have Luka Bojovic and Natasa Jelaca serve as our Kumovi. Both families are deeply committed stewards of our parish, and their dedication was heartfelt throughout the celebration.
The highlight of the event was the St. Sava Program, showcasing the talents and dedication of our youth. Children from the Serbian School, SOKO, Jr. Brankies Children Choir, and Church School delivered moving performances of traditional hymns, poems, and songs that paid tribute to St. Sava’s enduring legacy.
We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Stanislava Milosevic, who did an outstanding job as Master of Ceremonies, bringing warmth and elegance to the evening. Special thanks go to all the teachers, the SOKO board, and the parents who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure this celebration was both meaningful and memorable for our children.
The night concluded with joyous music and fellowship, as parishioners came together to celebrate the spirit of community and faith that St. Sava inspires in all of us.
May the prayers of St. Sava continue to bless and guide our children, filling their lives with faith, wisdom, and love. Ziveli!
