On the evening of January 6, 2025, Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral welcomed hundreds of faithful who gathered to celebrate the Christmas Eve services, marking the anticipation of the Nativity of Christ with prayer and tradition.
As part of the evening, the traditional burning of the badnjak (Yule log) was performed. The badnjak, an oak branch, symbolizes the wood brought by the shepherds to warm the cave where Christ was born and reminds us of the light and warmth of Christ entering the world. Its burning serves as a symbol of faith and unity among the faithful.
Following the services, the faithful gathered in the Cathedral’s social hall for a festive meal and fellowship. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Kolo Srpskih Sestara for preparing the delicious meal, as well as to the Executive Board and other parishioners who worked tirelessly to help organize the evening. Their dedication and service ensured a warm and welcoming celebration for everyone in attendance.
Hristos se Rodi! Vaistinu se Rodi!
(Christ is Born! Truly He is Born!)
May the joy and blessings of the Nativity continue to inspire and strengthen our parish community throughout the year!
