The Kursk-Root Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God at Our Cathedral

On Wednesday, November 13, 2019, the Miracle-working Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God visited Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral. The icon was brought to Chicago in order to visit a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church who had recently fallen ill, Fr. Andre Papkov. With the blessings of Archbishop Peter of Chicago and the Midwest and Bishop Longin of New Gracanica-Midwestern America, the icon was brought to the Cathedral for veneration by all Orthodox Christians in Chicagoland. Archbishop Peter with local Orthodox clergy served the Akathist Service and the faithful venerated the icon for almost two hours. This visit was a great blessing for our community and we are thankful for the opportunity. Most Holy Mother of God, save us!
