The Tradition of Easter Egg Dyeing: A Joyful Act of Faith and Fellowship

God Bless Our Kolo Sisters for Their Devotion and Love

As we approach the radiant celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord, one beloved tradition brings both beauty and meaning to our Orthodox Paschal joy—the dyeing of Easter eggs. Rooted deeply in Orthodox Christian symbolism, the red egg represents the blood of Christ, shed on the Cross, while its hard shell symbolizes the sealed tomb. Cracking the egg is a reminder of the glorious triumph of life over death, the opening of the tomb, and Christ’s Resurrection from the dead.

Each year, this sacred custom comes to life in our parish through the love and dedication of our Kolo Sisters, who lovingly prepare and dye the Paschal eggs that we all receive after the Resurrection service. It is a gesture of service, tradition, and faith—a labor of love done quietly and prayerfully, yet one that brings joy to every parishioner who holds a red egg in their hand on Easter night.

We offer our heartfelt thanks and deepest appreciation to our hardworking Kolo Sisters. Your efforts are not just a beautiful gift to our community—they are an offering to Christ Himself and a testament to the living tradition of our Holy Church. May God bless each of you for the time, care, and spiritual warmth you pour into this ministry.

Through your hands, you help carry forward a sacred heritage and bring Resurrection joy to the hearts of all.

Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!
Hristos Voskrese! Vaistinu Voskrese!
